Re: First aid question
Sorry, I haven't been clicking on the skill list links I have just been looking at the webiste where that stuff isn't indicated.
That being said, I am noticing a discrepancy in the skill research.
It is a tag (tagged) skill.
Im not entirely certain how it would be used now so an example would be appreciated.
That being said, my understanding is that a tag skill is one you can use one per period, the periods going from 8-8-8-8.
It says research is best used inbetween events.
How exactly do you use it inbetween events if there are no periods then?
And what exactly is the difference between doing it at the live game and events?
Can you give an example of how it would be used each way?
Thank you.

Re: First aid question
This guy is a bit of an exception but it's pretty simple.
Research is a fairly open ended skill that allows you to request research of something from staff. If you use it in game, the amount of time you research will have an impact on what you discover. If you are researching in between events, you have much more time to dedicate and will probably get more accurate and complete answers.
Research/Japanese naval tactics/in-game = They prefer to concentrates all its guns on the leading ship.
Research/Japanese naval tactics/in-between events = They prefer to concentrates all its guns on the leading ship and...Holy crap!!! They like to crash planes to our boats!!!
You can see how the difference and outcome of the ensuing battle would be greatly affected by the knowledge gained by the skill.
Does that help?

Re: First aid question
A bit.
My question now is, if you get so little from research why is it not passive?
Can other factors effect research? The lores you have for example? The experiences your character has gone through?
Can multiple people with the skill research the same subject together (If you have ever seen Buffy or Angel you know what I mean)? If both of those people have a pertinent lore and research together etc...
So if two demonologists with lore demon and research go to the library and really hit the books will it be any different then any random person with research going alone?

Re: First aid question
The decision was made to tag the skill so we can limit its abuse in game and better track how many topics of research a character can perform in between events.
Many factors affect research, all of which are very situational, and each will need to be resolved and evaluated in game.

Re: First aid question
Cool. That is what I was looking to determine. Whether or not is is an "all things considered" type skill.
